NAME: Ebenezer Asante.
CREDENTIALS: CEO, MTN Ghana
Ebenezer Asante is the first ever Ghanaian CEO of the Telecommunications giant, MTN Ghana, and that makes him worth celebrating as a hero in the Corporate World.
Ebenezer Asante holds a BA degree (Hons) in Economics and Statistics from the University of Ghana, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Henley Management College, and was part of MTN’s Global Advancement Programme (GAP) in 2010. He also participated in Executive level and General Management development programs at the Ashridge Business School (UK), Harvard and Insead (Paris).
Before joining MTN in 2008 as a Sales and Distribution Executive, and later Sales and Distribution Director, Ebenezer Asante worked for 13 years with Unilever Ghana, where he held various positions, including serving as Country Manager for Zambia in 2005 and Customer Development Director, responsible for sales and customer development strategy and execution in 2006. Whiles Director of Sales and Distribution, Ebenezer steered steep growth and penetration in subscriber numbers, as well as oversaw a number of restructuring policies that put the company on the track of efficiency and profitability.
In October 2013, Ebenezer was appointed as the CEO of MTN Rwanda, where he assumed overall responsibility for leading Telco Company in Rwanda, serving both Consumer and Enterprise total telecommunication and broadband needs.
When interviewed by Citi FM’s Bernard Avle during the breakfast business series, Mr. Ebenezer says the most important skill needed to perform in any role is the ability to understand and manage people and if he had the opportunity to go back back in time, he would major in Phycology at the University. Now that is one gold nugget of advise!
We believe Mr. Ebenezer Asante is a hero worth celebrating and Jobberman Ghana is dedicating this day to him.
