Jessica Opare Saforo, very well known simply as Jessica could arguably be said to be the queen of the Ghanaian radio shows, having done this for over 14 years! She has managed to stay in the limelight and be relevant even after all these years. One might wonder her source of motivation.

Jessica attended Akosombo International Where she was the Sports Prefect. “I was a tom-boy because I did Sports and especially the ones which were the preserve of males. “ She said in an interview. She later went to the University of Ghana, where she studied Economics and psychology.

She started her radio career with Choice FM and then moved to Vibe FM in 2000. She later moved to Citi FM in 2005. Until 2014 she was the host of the popular brunch in the city but dropped this portfolio and has since hosted Traffic Avenue from Monday to Friday between 2pm to 5pm. She also hosts Sister Sister every Thursdays from 6pm to 7pm on the same station.

She won Best Female Personality and Best Mid-Morning Show Host at the Radio and Television Personality Awards last year and Best Female Radio DJ at the DJ Awards. Considering she is one of the best in an industry that is dominated by men, the enterprising Jessica says her resolve for success is never backing down. She is not new to controversy but her strong personality is always on top of issues.

Jessica also has remarkably had over 8 nominations at the Radio and Television Personality awards. She was also part of ETV Ghana 100 most influential people list in 2011 and 2012. The accomplished radio show host continues to influence many Ghanaian women. Especially the underprivileged.

Aside work, she has a private company, The Voice Ova, where she trains people with raw voice and prepares them for radio and television. Kudos to one of Ghana’s inspiring daughters.
